Higher dimensional space and regular polytopes: the exploration of shapes
By Jose Miguel Valdes Rodriguez Elementary Category (Grades 4-6) Study | Mathematics
Learn about the vast variety of shapes that exist in spatial dimensions that we can’t even comprehend. We will go from the reaches of everything from the 0-dimensional point to the 10-dimensional Dekeract. I will use homemade models of the shapes to illustrate what the objects would look like and will also use images to visualize more complex objects like hyperspheres and hypercones. With this I will give a brief introduction to topology, a field of mathematics that deals with properties of space that are not affected by the continuous deformation of the shapes. Topology studies these properties not only in two and three dimensions, but in higher dimensions as well.
